S3 was created when four software professionals brought together their specific expertise in different disciplines. But the company did not truly succeed until it became the mission objective of a couple of U.S. Marines.
Jack Holt and Tim Pletcher both served in the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, USMC. Holt saw action in Somalia, and Pletcher was in the Gulf War. But they did not meet until they ended up living across the street from each other in Austin, Texas.
Holt realized Pletcher’s data expertise was perfect for S3’s business plans. Mark Davies, an MIT computer scientist, and Dan Walters, a nationally-recognized core level software developer, rounded out the team to invent and productize TeraMatch®.
S3 runs with military precision. And you can always tell who the bosses are: they’re the ones who still have Marine regulation haircuts.
