S3 Aids in Reducing Risk to Texas Medicaid System

(Austin, Texas) – November 28, 2007

S3 Matching Technologies’ patented TeraMatch® has begun providing the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) innovative technology to automate the verification of licenses of potential Medicaid providers to ensure that Medicaid does not allow payments to non-qualified health care providers. Until adopting the TeraMatch® system, TMHP relied on manual data verification searches on duplicate, non-enrolled and excluded Medicaid providers.

“We’ve created an automated system that uses our TeraMatch® to help TMHP quickly verify Medicaid provider eligibility,” said Andi Gillentine, Vice President of Health Care for S3 Matching Technologies.“TMHP staffers were spending an excessive amount of time checking on the qualifications of each provider prior to payment,” she explained.

TeraMatch® runs detailed matching against various databases and lists that include doctors or clinics that might have been sanctioned for failing to pay taxes, defrauding the government or simply letting their licenses expire.  Those findings from various exclusion lists are then reported automatically in minutes.

“TMHP tracks hundreds of thousands of providers to make certain the right people are being paid,” said Rick Pope, Managing Director of TMHP.  “S3 has given us a tool that dramatically reduces risk and can potentially increase the level of confidence that beneficiaries are receiving health care from qualified providers.”

The Texas Medicaid program provides health-care coverage for more than 2 million low-income Texans.
